ABOUT

Abeni Asante is an ecologist and emerging visual and sound artist. They work with mixed media, photography and collages to tell stories of speculative afrocentric futures, beyond colonial extraction, binaries and linear time.

Abeni is interested in sonic methodologies, including field recordings, archival vinyl, and soundscapes as portals for interspecies communication, memory and liberation.

Abeni holds a Master’s degree in Ecology and Nature Conservation from the University of Potsdam and is based in Berlin, Germany. They are part of a collective building an art residency space and forest garden near Cape Coast, Ghana.
